A new generation of silicon from Intel. The CE4100 chip is sampling to customers now.

The CE4100 packs a number features onto one piece of silicon--the same design goal for future Intel chips that will be used in smartphones and Netbooks. The chip is designed to bring Internet content and services to digital TVs, DVD players, and advanced set-top boxes, said Eric Kim, senior vice president and general manager, Intel Digital Home Group, in his keynote at IDF 2009 here Thursday.

NASA on Thursday SEP 24th 2009 in Washington revealed that India's maiden lunar mission Chandrayaan-I had traced water molecules on the moon's surface.
“Discovery of moon is a major leap in our knowledge of the moon. NASA’s instruments helped finding the water molecules in collaboration with ISRO,” NASA said.
In the late 1990s, scientists found pockets of hydrogen on the moon, and inferred that its molecules could bond with oxygen to make water, the professor said. He called the older information much coarser.
This time, researchers are reassured that the components are on the moon to make water because of the presence of hydroxyl -- produced when hydrogen and oxygen also bond with a mineral structure.
"Water ice on the moon has been something of a holy grail for lunar scientists for a very long time," said Jim Green, director of the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington.
"We see both water and hydroxyl. While the abundances are not precisely known, as much as 1,000 water molecule parts-per-million could be in the lunar soil. To put that into perspective, if you harvested one ton of the top layer of the moon's surface, you could get as much as 32 ounces of water," said Roger Clark, a US Geological Survey scientist in Denver and member of both the VIMS and M3 teams.

Watch the unveiling of the all-new 2007 Audi TT. Although the Audi TT has remained remarkably fresh since its 1998 release, the recent announcement of a restyled coupe for 2007 is right on time. Our first glimpse came at the auto show earlier this year, and it appears that the styling is a success. Meanwhile, TT tech specs are trickling out, and enthusiasts are salivating.

New 2007 Audi TT Coupe
Audi says the standard turbo 2.0 stays, still making 200hp. Uplevel models will have 250 horses under the hood, courtesy of the 3.2-liter V6; Quattro all-wheel-drive comes with this engine, too. Two types of transmissions will be available, too--a standard six-speed stick-shift, or a dual-clutch "S-tronic" auto-manual that changes gears in 2/10ths of a second. So equipped, Audi claims the 2.0T does 0-to-62 mph in 6.4 seconds; the V6 is 7/10ths swifter.
Extensive use of aluminum accounts for a low weight of 2,772 lbs. for the 2.0T TT and 3,102 for the 3.2. Exterior dimensions exceed the old TT's; the 2007 is 5.4" longer and 3.1" wider, although only .2" taller.
Interior room is upped in every measure as well. Stylistically, the 2007's cockpit is actually less avant-garde, although every bit as high-tech and high-end. Note the flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Also meriting mention is the magnetic shock absorber system optional on the new TT. Speed-dependent power steering is standard, as is ESP with a sport setting. Really remarkable is the rear spoiler, which retracts under 50 mph.

Sanyo on May 22nd unveiled its Xacti E1, a digital camcorder and still camera that is waterproof to a depth of five feet for up to one hour at a time. The Xacti E1 is expected to ship in mid-June for $499.99.
The Xacti E1 shoots video in MPEG-4 and uses the H.264 codec. It’s “tapeless,” recording digital video and 6MP still JPEG images onto an SD or SDHC memory card. It can record up to 10 hours of 640 x 480 30 frame per second video on a single 8GB SDHC card, according to Sanyo, and it connects to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0.
The Xacti E1 shares a one-handed pistol grip-style design with other Xacti cameras, and comes in blue, yellow or white designs. The E1 doesn’t require an additional housing; the unit is completely self-contained and is waterproof right out of the box.
The Xacti E1 sports its own 2.5-inch LCD color display that flips out and rotates, a 5x optical zoom lens, digital image stabilization, and 16:9 (2816 x 1584 pixel) photo setting.
The camera measures 2.8 x 4.4 x 1.6 inches and weighs 8.3 ounces with its battery and memory card in place...........

Microsoft Entertainment head Robbie Bach revealed on Monday that the company has sold a little over a million of the portable media player Zune by late May, surpassing its target to sell 1 million Zune digital media players by the middle of 2007. Microsoft launched the Zune last November, but the device has done little to sap enthusiasm for the iPod, which remains a top seller in the hard-drive media-player market, according to marketing-research firm NPD.
Unlike its rival iPod, the Zune media player weighs heavier, lacks podcast support and has shorter battery life; possible reasons for its sliding sales performance.
Microsoft plans to focus on adding features to Zune Marketplace to stay ahead in competition with Apple.
Researchers have reported on the growing market of MP3 players in the US. A whopping $1.5 billion in 2005 to $10.7 billion by 2010 is the expected revenue for the online music market.
So far, Zune has not been a serious threat for the iPod, but it will certainly make iPod maker cautious.....
